Ponds

Ponds and waterfalls come in many shapes and sizes. The "trick" to a beautiful water feature is developing a balanced eco- system that keeps the water fresh and relatively algae free.

The pond system that Cascade Landscape installs uses a skimmer and filtration system that functions together to achieve a balance much like that found in nature. This keeps the maintenance of the pond to a considerably less amount of work than most ponds of the past.

There are a few other considerations when planning a pond:

• Management—the water levels, quality and clarity of a pond need to be monitored in order to maintain a balanced eco-system. Debris may need to be cleaned out of the pond periodically as well.
• Wildlife—water naturally attracts birds that love to swim and bathe and other small animals will come to drink.
• Fish—putting fish in a pond changes the required design specifications, for maintaining the health of the fish.
• Safety—most children are fascinated with water. There is always the danger of drowning accidents.
